So we have a picture here of some guy playing a 12 neck guitar and one of the instrument in question sitting on a very custom made guitar stand. Yes you heard me correctly, a 12 neck guitar. Once I saw this thing I new that I had to do a post and show you right away.
As it turns out this is some of Yoshihiko Satoh’s conceptual artwork that was displayed and actually won the 2002 Kirin Art Award Grand Prix prize. It is really something to behold. The thing that got my mind going was that if you look really close to the guitar whammy/wammy bars in the top picture, all of them are not in the same position. Then if you focus your attention to the picture below, all of the tail pieces are not the same. This made me think that it’s real … or is it?
Keep on Jammin’
If that is real, it doesn’t make sense. How would you reach some of the necks? Either way still cool.
It’s definitely not functional art Jeff!
very cool guitar but i think its hard to use..
11 necks i can understand, but 12? j/k its super awesome.
Bonita, can you imagine how much it would cost to totally re-string this thing?!!!
I think so too How to yoyo!
I’d bet Michelangelo Batio would have no problem utilizing each neck of this guitar. Anyway, it’s interesting to say the least. I certainly hope that if they went through all the effort to make a guitar like this that they at least made it functional.
You’d think now wouldn’t you Eric! As for seeing Michelangelo Batio play this puppy, the tickets for the show would be worth every penny!
Love it! It’s a visual art statement, though — otherwise, why would you want a multi-neck with all the same neck/bridge/pickups? As a Stratocaster lover, I admire his choice of archetype. 🙂
