As I said in Guitar Licks, I had to call in sick today. I really had no choice! It felt like the mighty Nile was running out of my nose”, even when I was sitting straight up while trying to watch TV. I was mouth breathing most of the evening. When I went to bed, I had 3 pillows propping up my old, stuffed up, brain box, in a futile attempt to have an un-obstruct air-way to breath correctly throughout the night. In the words of Charlie Brown, AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Feeling Sick
I swear to GOD, I didn’t sleep a wink. We do sleep at night, I think, it’s just that it’s not in one of those deep REM (rapid eye movement) sleeps.
When I woke up, I was in a daze all day long. My nose was sore and red while my throat was raw (probably from all the nights mouth breathing exercises that I was unconsciously doing in my sleep!) My ear felt like there was a bass/kick drum going off in it every time I moved my head in any direction.
I happen to be one of those people at work that you hate. You know, one of THOSE people who love to be a work and will do anything in their power to get things done, no matter what it takes? So I take this calling in sick thing, very seriously!
So to M., Dr. “J” and all those in PARR, I WILL MAKE IT UP TO YOU SOMEDAY!

I always think it’s better to stay at home when you aren’t feeling well, that way you can’t pass anything you might have to your coworkers, which can get to their kids, and then back to the schools, etc.
I always feel bad calling in sick even when its a struggle to get out of bed. Generally I think you always feel a little guilty.

I work in a Surgical area of a Toronto hospital and you CAN NOT be sick when your around vulnerable people. It’s just a given.
No matter that the reason for being sick, I still feel bad for my fellow co-workers!
