This guy was setting the bar for the level of musicianship for the Nuance Art/Rock Festival 2008 held in Toronto. He was the perfect choice to open the show that night. His instrumental act was a joy to listen to.
Lorne is a modest and humble guitar player who wore his musical soul on his shirt sleeve to all that attended that night. His style is similar to the likes of Joe Satriani, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray
Vaughan and Carlos Santana. And that was quite obvious.
Lorne’s Gear
The main guitar he used was Music Man, the one that Steve Lukather from Toto uses. He also had a backup Music Man on stage with him as well.
He played through a Carvin Legacy amp.
The pedals that helps conjure up his fabulous sounds are a Dunlop Mister Cry Baby Volume/Wah, a MXR Carbon copy delay, a MXR overdrive (which basically pushes the delay), a BB preamp and a Orion stage tuner.
The mike that was picking up that big ripping colour was a Sennheiser E-609 Evolution Microphone. I feel that it was the correct choice for the style he plays. He also uses the small pointed V-pick. I’ve never seen one before and while talking to him before the show he showed me. I find picks are VERY personal and it was nice that he shared with me, and you guys of coarse.
